Session Topic - Becoming an On-Line Course Developer

  • Speaker highlighted basic duties of faculties and redefined the relation between teaching and learning. This agenda mainly spit into four categories – course development, course contents, course delivery and course assessment. Out of four categories the most critical to handle was course assessment.

  • Course development include syllabus and course components such as Credits (C), Lecturer Hours (L), Practical Hours (P) and Project Hours (J).

  • Next, Course contents pin out detailed information about text books, references books, web materials, lecture notes and ppts. 

  • While, course delivery focused on teaching pedagogies; which include role play, animation., etc. In addition, refresh our main objective is to ‘Inspire the students!!!’

  • Finally, topic of course assessment was taken up. This was most challenging task to convince the faculties about online learning. He suggests to use quizzes, subjective assignments, programming assignments, solving lab exercise, CAT and FAT as main ways to take up assessment’s activity.     

  • A detailed comparison was made between synchronous and asynchronous learning.   

  • Overview about MOOC. Shared some facts about course (marketing managements) at VIT, where in 7000 students registered the course and attended the curse.   

  • In addition, last summer 22 coursers were floated at EDX platform where in 22000 students were registered.
